Dunkiel Saunders helps clients who are committed to taking prompt and meaningful action to address global warming, helping them recognize both the challenges and opportunities in doing so.
In addition to helping businesses and nonprofits implement practical strategies to reduce carbon emissions through projects or their operations, attorneys in our firm helped to conceive and litigate several of the pioneering climate change cases in the United States, including Friends of the Earth et al. v. Watson, No. 02-4106(JSW) (N.D. Ca.) and No. 03-72620 (9th Cir. 2003). In this case, Dunkiel Saunders represented Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and the Cities of Boulder, CO, Arcata, CA, Oakland, CA, and Santa Monica, CA in a claim that federal export credit agencies must consider their projects’ contributions to climate change – the first case in which a federal court held that injuries caused solely by climate change provide standing under Article III of the U.S. Constitution.
